For the second wkd of September we took Ben on his first overnight float on the upper Kenai River. It was a chilly, breezy night, but we borrowed a friends heater for our tent so Ben could sleep in comfort as we knew he wouldn’t stay in a sleeping bag within his crib. He slept like a rock allowing us to sleep through the night, except Deb was too nervous and kept waking me up to check on him all night. Both days were very sunny and were eventually warm. Our friend Pat lost his hanging tent due to the wind. Just disappeared during the night! It was our first time trying our new family car camping tent which performed so well that I never heard the wind.

Trout Lake Cabin Back Pack
In late August Deb and i took Ben on his 1st backpack into Trout Lake Cabin along the southern end of the Resurrection Trail on the Kenai Peninsula. We pushed Ben in the Chariot for the 3.5 -4 mile hike. Ben slept half of the way in and half of the way out. Napped when he needed to at the cbin thus we all slept through the night at the cabin. Ben had fun exploring a new building including wanting to climb the stairs over and over again. Deb kept saying, “he’s gonna be a climber”. We were fortunate to have great weather. Not a drop of rain on us!

First half of August with Ben
I have been home just about all of August enjoying catching up with Ben. Deb and I took advantage of day care one week day and went for a hike up Bird Ridge. My 1st wkd back we attended one of Debs classmates wedding at Arctic Valley. They scored with a beautiful day! Ben and I dressed appropriately for the hot sunny weather.
